Greetings and Good Morning!
Today, for "Mai Monday Motivation", I'm going to discuss the need of maintaining your balance in life. This life is pretty tough to navigate, and it can be a real "balancing act". Having your balance ensures clarity, insight, and focus. We all have our trials and tribulations, but how we handle them is most important. Someone, right now, is a decision away from losing it all, and the stress is taking a significant toll on their ability to "balance" everything in their lives. I've been dealing with a lot of personal stress and emotions recently related to my book, and business. Until, about a week ago, I felt like, I was spiraling out of control and losing control with my grip on reality. I was afraid, and I needed to immediately recenter and pull it all together. So...I did!
First and foremost, if it feels like, I've been focusing my recent blog posts on my feelings around navigating my book and business, truth is, I have. Mostly because, I want to be upfront and honest about this journey that I'm on. Especially, as I deal with these issues as they arrive. So bear with me, I'm human, and writing about this is therapeutic for me. Some may relate, and some won't, but I'm asking for empathy, not sympathy. So, with that said, I was out of balance. This past week, I decided to take the "bull by the horns", and take back my balance. I had to ask myself, "Mai, what's up with your balance?" Hey, sometimes you have to put yourself first, and, you know what? You don't need permission to do so! In doing so, I did not post a motivational post this past Monday, August 13, 2018. I wanted to post, but I didn't feel the inspiration come as it always does. My loss of balance, was blocking my creative flow, and this was totally unacceptable. So, to also help with rebalancing my life, I decided to give up one of my social media accounts. I deactivated my Facebook account and "unplugged" from it. I wanted to "quiet" my life socially, and disconnect from this platform where I was most active. Currently, I only post information related to my book and motivational content on my Instagram and Twitter accounts. I'm not as active on these platforms, so it felt genuinely like a break. Having no need to connect to Facebook, made me feel great. This allowed me to pinpoint where my issues were. Not only that, I went back to the basics and began meditating, and focused on clearing my seven energy Chakras. I needed to align and refocus my mind on my goals again. I have new goals now, and I have to keep them in the forefront of my mind. Before, I did this, I was "teetering" out of balance because, of the anxiety of having so many unknowns in my life, as well as, constantly looking at my Facebook and other social media accounts for balance. It was a false sense of balance and control. Since then, I've "hit the reset button", and I'm doing so much better now that I'm balancing it all again. Last week, I realized there is a thin line between, staying on track and losing it all. However, not today, I'm not losing it all today!
So how are your keeping your life in balance? Are you living a life that's teetering out of control? You can get it back on track. Let me share with you a couple of tactics that helped me.
1. Unplug from social media.
The reason to "unplug from social media" is that we don't realize how much it controls us, until we let it go. Life goes on with and without social media. If you're not "plugged in", it's ok. I'm sure you'll be able to get so much more done without it. I'm so much happier that I let it go. I'm not beholden to what's on my page. Plus, life is simpler, and it's easier to get back to the more important things in life.
2. Figure out what's causing you to lose your balance.
Once you "unplug" it should be a little easier to identify, what's causing your loss of balance. For me, it was a number of things, but I was able to identify, get to the bottom of it and let it go. You can too. Be deliberate in your desire to understand what is causing you to lose your balance. Give it the attention that it deserves for it to be properly resolved.
3. Refocus and meditate.
Finally, recenter yourself and connect to a higher source. You have to stay grounded, and this is probably the most important step because, it keeps you mentally "in the game". The mind is resilient, but you have to give it time to refocus and relax. It allows you to gain clarity and insight, and this is where you ultimately regain your balance.
If you're experiencing a similar situation, I pray that you find your balance, and that by sharing my experience, it in turn helps you. Keeping your balance is very important, and you have to be able to do what is needed to take care of yourself. It can be the huge factor between a "purpose driven life" with balance, and losing it all! I hope that this post helped you today, and motivated you in some way to regain your balance!
Peace and Happy #MondayMotivation!
