M.A.I. Monday Motivation: “Despite A Loss, There’s Always A Silver Lining!”

Greetings and Good Evening! I want to begin by saying recently, it seems, there's been significant loss, discord, and people dealing with so much. I just want to send a word of encouragement and prayer of support to you all. Besides the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, we also lost, Lead News Anchor for CNN, Bernard Shaw and R&B Singer, Jesse Powell. With that said, I was particularly shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of brilliant funny man, David Arnold two weeks ago. This loss hit me hard because, I follow him and his family on social media, and he's personable, down-to-earth and friendly. He's even responded to a few of my comments on his posts. Not many celebrities do that. He definitely engaged with his followers. Also, I've watched all of his Netflix Comedy Specials. I'd even watched his recent appearance on MSNBC's Cross Connection with Tiffany Cross on Saturday, September 3, 2022. He was a comedic giant and one of the best and brightest in comedy. My heart goes out to his wife, Julie, and his daughters, Anna Grace and Ashlyn. I think the other passing that happened this year that hit me hard like this one was the death of mega-talented, phenomenal drummer, Taylor Hawkins of rock band, The Foo Fighters. He's hands down one of my favorite drummers of all-time (along with Questlove of The Roots, Morris Day, and Garry George "Jellybean" Johnson of The Time)! Also, the loss of Aldolfo "Shabba-Doo" Quiñones, on December 29, 2020 was equally as heartbreaking. These losses reminded me of how I felt when Prince passed away on April 21, 2016. It hurts as a fan, to care and support your favorite artists, and know that their stars will cease to shine in this lifetime. In addition to all of this, the world still turns and there are individuals hurting, grieving and dealing their own losses of family members and friends, as well. Two Sunday ago now, was the 21st anniversary of 9/11/02. So, with that said, I pray for us all. If you're grieving a loss, whether it's a person, a relationship, a job, or something else; I pray for you today. Remember you are not alone event hough you may be going through a tough time. Today's message is one of encouragement and support, so let's dive right in!

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” - Isaiah 41:11

It took me some to write this post. I was originally planning to post it on Monday, 9/13/2022, but I wasn't ready. I was still sad. I needed time. Time to finish "grieving" for the short period of time that I did for the individuals that I did not know. Sometimes I think that we forget to give ourselves Grace, and that even if you do not know someone doesn't mean that you can care if something happens to them. So, if you're sad and grieving someone, give yourself time to go through that process. Whether you knew them or not. There's so much more that I could say, but I don't think that it's necessary. I will say, "keep your head up and look to the hills." This too shall pass and we will see brighter days ahead.

We are emotional creatures and we all have feelings, regardless of how tough we are, we feel. It's one of the beautiful attributes about being human, and having a human experience on this earth. We don't just exist. We have an emotional connection to our existence. We are also connected to a higher power. When you connect body, mind, and spirit to that source, you can get through anything. The scripture today, reminds us that we are not alone. When we are weak, He is strong enough to help us get through. We can trust when we need Him, He will always be there. As I close, during a time of loss is typically the moment in time when a person is most vulnerable and weak. This is the time when we should believe in God's word, and remember he will uphold us and to hold on right to his righteous hand. Amen! Find the silver lining in all that you touch and do. I my silver lining as, I spent this past weekend with my family, "my boys!" My hubby, two sons, and I had a great family weekend. We went to a family day event and enjoyed being out in the beautiful, sunny weather on these final days of summer. Remember even in the midst of loss, there is goodness to be had and fun times to experience. Live with the spirit of gratitude, and may you have a beautiful day and rest of the week!

Peace and Blessings,

MAI
