Let's Face with mai: makeup Product review (July 2019)

Updated: Jul 19, 2019

Hey Ladies,

In a post on my makeup Instagram page, I told you that I wanted to give you my take on a few new Makeup products that I purchased recently. I’m doing this because, many times when I watch YouTube videos, I see people use some of these products and I wanted to try them out for myself; to see if I’d have a similar result as them. What I’ve found is as with most things in life, “results may vary”.

This week, I decided to try the following products:

For Eyes:

Too Faced Natural Eyes’ Eyeshadow Palette

‘Too Faced’ Shadow Insurance Primer 24 Hr.

‘L.A. Girl Get Feverish’ Eyeshadow Palette

Essence Eyelash Primer

Essence Mascara

IT Brushes for Ulta Airbrush Collection Crease Blending Brush

For Face:

‘L.A. Girl’ Concealer (Colors: Fawn & Toast)

For Lips:

Essence Shine Shine Shine Lipgloss

“Eyeshadow Love”

Let me just begin by saying that I absolutely love the eyeshadow palettes from both “Too Faced” and “L.A. Girl”. They are both quality products that are easy to apply and they both had very little “fallout”. Fallout has been something that I loathe, and many of my palettes has a problem with it, but not these two. Also, can I just say that the “Too Faced” Natural Eyes Eyeshadow Palette smells like a dream. I have to refrain from wanting to eat it! I mean not really, but, for real it smells that good!

“Brush It Good!”

I couldn’t apply these beautiful colors from these palettes with a flimsy, wack brush. Now, I have a ton of brushes, but I’ve been dying to try one of the fluffier brushes that I constantly see in makeup YouTube videos. So I finally found one that I liked enough to try, and I fell in love with “IT BRUSHES FOR ULTA Airbrush Blending Crease Brush #105.” It’s amazing. The bristles don’t fall out, it applies the makeup perfectly, and the bristles are soft and comfy. This brush has quickly become my “go to” brush! My other brushes are jealous for good reason!

“Concealer is Real”

The L.A. Girl Concealer is a common concealer that I’ve notice used in many Makeup tutorials on YouTube. However, I’m not quite so sure why. I found for me it’s a bit much. Prior to using this concealer, I used my “E.L.F. Concealer” palette. It worked perfectly fine because, it has a creamy texture and it’s easy to control during application. Whereas, the L.A. Girl Concealer was a liquid concealer and therefore was a little more difficult to control during application, especially when applied directly from the tube. A couple of times, it nearly ruined my perfectly “sculpted” eyebrows. It’s going to definitely take some time for this product to grow on me, if at all, but I’m definitely happy to see if I like it.

“Gimme Fab Lashes”

So, I must admit before I purchased the Essence Eyelash Primer, I really didn’t use a primer as a step in my makeup application process. However, I really like this primer because it is made with Açaí Oil and Mango Butter, And works to give your lashes more volume. Used in addition to the Essence Volume Styler 18 hr Lash Extension Mascara with Lengthening Fiber, my lashes actually pop! I love it! Also, I notice with the primer it’s much easier to remove the mascara from my lashes.

“M.A.I. Lips Are Sealed”

I want to finish off with the lips. Every girl that loves makeup, loves lipstick! I mean it’s like having that favorite shoe in your closet, and it has to be the right one. So, I decided to give the Essence Shine Shine Shine Lipgloss a try. I will say, it smells good. It didn’t leave my lips “sticky”, and it gave my lips a “wet” look. It’s been my “go-to” gloss since getting it. I highly recommend it because, it pairs will with lip liner or over top of a lipstick to give it a little extra pop!

Here is my final look after using all of these products! I love it!💄💋
