Picture this, a beautiful spacious room, the lights are dim, the feeling inside is warm and cozy with the hint of lavender that fills the air. In your immediate view of your mind's eye you visualize your significant other. It's a moment that you've been dying to have, craving for actually. Do ever wish that you could just escape? Drop everything and just go? Do you long for the day where you could spice up your love and romantic life? Well, this is a quick post is dedicated to getting back the basics of being romantic! Let's dive in!🏊🏾♀️💜
The article, "Marriage Statistics: The Biggest Surprises About Love, Sex, and More" by Brandon Specktor on the Reader's Digest website, gives an interesting statistic about how men feel about romance. "Thirty-three percent more men than women around the world say it bothers them 'a lot' that their significant other isn't more romantic". So ladies, what that says to me, is that we need to "spice" it up and be more romantic for the love of our lives. I'm the first to admit, sometimes, I get caught up in the daily routine of being a wife, mother, and career woman. Of course, I get it! I never want my husband to lack romance or to feel neglected. With that said, it's been important over the course of our relationship and marriage for me to keep it loving and romantic! So, I thought I'd share some of my favorite ways of spicing up my romantic life. Maybe this will give you some pointers on spicing up your love life too!
Plan a date for a Friday night, get dressed up for dinner and execute the following:
1. Send Sexy Text Messages 💖📱
Spend the entire day building the anticipation of the upcoming evening. Send simple love messages to your "SO" to get them in a romantic mood. You can be as "mild or spicy" as you'd like, but trust me, the spicier the better.😉
2. Be spontaneous! Take off of work early, and show up at home with wine and chocolate.🍷🍫
Get the evening started with a bottle of great wine, and a delicious chocolate. There's nothing wrong with a few sweet treats, paired with a little "afternoon delight", long before the start of dinner!
3. Set the scene and relish in it.🌹🎼
Stay in romantic mode. That means everything you do is thoughtful and romantic. Offer a back massage with a nice oil, and make sure the background music is romantic. For instance, one track that I simply love is, Meshell Ndegeocello's remake of The System's, "Don't Disturb This Groove". It's breathy and airy and perfect for setting the mood. So dim the lights, light the candles, and fill the air with aromatics to relax into the perfect romantic evening.
4. Get that sexy lingerie!
Go ahead and buy that beautiful piece of lingerie that you've been eyeing. You deserve to feel gorgeous because you are! You work hard, your "SO" loves you, and you are beautiful. Don't be afraid to share your sexy, confident side. I promise you, they will love the confidence that you exude, and they're going to love seeing you wearing it too!
5. Be open to explore each other's fantasies.
Let's face it, we all have needs and we all have fantasized about someone that we've found attractive. That's just plain human nature, but why not discuss those fantasies with your "SO". Share your thoughts with him or her, and welcome them to share theirs. It can be a fun and enlightening experience to be open on that level with someone you love. It will also elevate your love level to new heights.
As a romance author, I think about love, romance, and sex quite often. Sorry, I'm just being honest. It is how I set the scenes within my stories. I'm open and interested in how couples navigate their love lives because, it makes it easier for me to translate it into my stories. I wanted to put this list together because, it's just the tip of the iceberg of how I maintain my romantic love life, in real life. I hope that you've found it helpful, or perhaps its been a reminder for you to keep the spice of your relationship steamy!
